June 2011

What a crazy month...I think I start each post out by stating how crazy something is, but hey, that's our life!!!

Lets just get it said first...

After beating OKC the Mavericks are Western Conference Champions...So to keep tradition my co-worker and I wore our NBA FINALS shirts to work...

Now onto the bigger news:

The Dallas Mavericks are NBA CHAMPIONS...yep, they did it, they beat the Heat and brought the trophy to Dallas. The Griese family could not be more happy! All the late nights watching the games, biting of the nails, stress, having to go to Fat Daddys in Mansfield for happy hour on game nights (due to me being so superstitious)...

Alexa tried to stay up to watch...

Alexa, Ava and Cannon dancing at Fat Daddy's

It all paid off, Dirk is finally recognized as the MVP he really is! I am fortunate enough to work in downtown Dallas, so I was able to per take in the parade.

Not only was I lucky enough to attend, but a co-worker of mine has season ticket seats, so we were able to go into AA and watch the pep rally after the parade. It was such an honor to be a part of! I still get a huge smile on my face when I think of the Dallas Mavericks being WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!

Basketball did take up the first half of our month of June, but on the 18th, we celebrated a VERY special day. Alexa and Ava turned 2.

I know, where did the time go??? I think back to when they were first coming home from the hospital and thinking OMG, I have never changed a diaper...I have never given an infant a bath...everything was scary, and terrifying to me, then times it by 2 because I had twins! I couldn't believe the hospital would just let me leave with 2 newborns and trust that I could take care of them. Well, here we are 2 years later, and I have 2 amazing, smart, healthy, beautiful girls.
There have been so many milestones they have achieved in such a short amount of time. I remember when they held their own bottles for the first time. Then the joys of them doing tummy time, and rolling over...Shorty followed by crawling, walking, and running. Their facial expressions are priceless and something I never knew I would love as much as I do. Now they are begining to put sentences together, figure things out. I love getting to be a part of their life and seeing things through their eyes.

Eventhough we celebrated their birthday party back in May, we still took them out for their birthday. Where else beside Chick-fil-A would we celebrate their birthday? Indoor playground, awesome french fries, and ice cream...we were in business. Chick-fil-A happened to be doing a Fathers Day dinner that night, so when they heard the girls were having a birthday, they gave them 2 of their girls sacks of goodies...tiara, fake earings, bracelets, Chick-fil-A cow, the girls loved it...

We have also been doing lots of swimming. We have a tiny blow up pool at the house, our neighbors are so great to let us use their pool anytime, and my the pool at my parents house. Between these 3 places, the girls have got their summer tans!!!
